I really want to build a 300BLK pistol.

If I go to my LGS and buy a stripped receiver though,  what exactly is he supposed to write on his section of the 4473?  I worry that if I get a guy behind the counter who isn't familiar with class 3 and NFA type stuff he may... check the wrong box or something.  Is there like a completed example I can bring in so he can just copy and insert my serial number?

Sorry if this is oddly worded, this stuff confuses the hell out of me.

Oh and before anyone asks, Im located in Texas not Nevada.

Stripped receivers transfer as "other".  Your pistol build isn't NFA.

If your FFL doesn't know stripped receivers transfer as "other" the ATF is going to have a field day when they inspect.

If you bring in an example for your LGS guy as far how he ought to fill out a basic firearm form, he'd probably be insulted... I know I probably would if I were him.

The directions for classification are in the 4473 itself.

Plainly says that even if it is a receiver that can ONLY be built as a rifle, it is STILL to be marked as "other firearm".  (whatever kind of receiver that would be, I'm not exactly sure).

Wny would the shop have to have any idea abput class 3 or nfa stuff? Pistols are not nfa. There is no ATF paperwork. The only thing that needs to be done is to check the other box. Nothing to get confused by at all.

Alrighty.   And I would much rather offend a guy than go to prison

If your LGS has ever filled out a 4473 form before he should know to mark it other, if he doesn't the ATF will have a field day with him when inspection time comes. Pistols are not NFA.

I fired mine for telling the ATF guy that the three lowers he was transferring to me were 'Rifles.'  I corrected him while he was on the phone with the guy, but I doubt the ATF guy cared.
