I've started buying parts for my first rifle and am shocked at the wait times. So far it took * weeks for my mission first pistol grip and dont have an idea when they are shipping the buttstock. I keep getting the "its back ordered and will be shipped in a few weeks." reply. I'm really not in a rush for the parts cause i dont have my ltc yet (hate being from MA). Just curious if places are usually this back ordered? Stag shipped right away but I heard spikes takes forever? I want to get a spikes lower when i get my license, but i dont know if i'll want to wait that long after getting it.

First of all.

Use the vendors here.  Rainier is great if it isn't in stock then it has a notify me when it is.  PKfirearms only lists its parts in stock.  AIM surplus also has some great values.

Spikes has some nice stuff.   But don't get wrapped around the axle about what lower to get.  If you like the Spider roll mark on the side then get it.  Wait times aren't that bad right now for lowers and parts for lowers.  Barrels and uppers seem to be the problem.

Being from MA there are other considerations.  Making sure that all your parts are Mass compliant.

No bayonet lug.
No collapsible stock (unless it is pinned)
No Flash hiders....comps or nothing.

No magazines greater than 10 rounds.

Good Luck

I've been pretty lucky with my orders and if something is back ordered I usually move on to a different vendor that does have it in stock. If no one has it in stock then I get a different/similar item.

You can buy Spike's Tactical stripped lowers through other vendors. You don't have to buy them directly from Spike's.

Some vendors, like Rock River Arms, has reasonable waiting times. I ordered lower parts through their website and they even say that there can be a 5-7 day wait before the item is even mailed out. Even though I knew it, I was antsy and the waiting was almost unbearable I almost paid more (from elsewhere) just to get the parts in a day or two but I didn't. It was a reasonable wait time so I can't bash Rock River at all.

I would NOT wait months for a stock. I'd pay more elsewhere unless it was 75% off or something like that.

Most of my kit was PSA. I went to school in South Carolina so I have a thing for the Palmetto State. My barrel and my BCG have been the long lead items so far. The barrel was 3 weeks (receiving it today) from White Oak Armament and the BCG from JP Enterprises is going on 4 weeks and I am still waiting. Everything else was less than a week from order to door. If I had to do it over again, I would have ordered the barrel and BCG at the same time I ordered my stripped lower. I had to wait a two weeks to get that in part due to the Maryland seven day wait period, so at least I would have the bulk of the gun at the same time.

No way to accurately answer your question. Depends on the part & it depends on the vendor. Too many variables in play. You either find a vendor that has what you need in stock or you wait for what you want from one that doesn't.

I had been planning my build for weeks. I finally jumped when PSA put their lowers on sale around Labor day. I started to buy the upper and bcg then, only to find my selected sites had sold out. I have received everything but my upper now, not sure when its coming. I got most of my stuff at http://dsgarms.com. It seems like after the psa sale, parts are flying off the shelf.        good luck!

The new Mission First Tactical stuff (like the grip and stock you ordered) is just now starting to ship... or so I've been told.  I got an email from them on Friday that the order for the shop where I work had finally shipped after a couple months of waiting.  We still haven't seen them, so I can't say what is and isn't shipping yet.  We'd ordered a mix of the new stuff.

However, it sounded like the butt stocks were going to take longer than everything else.

Why aren't you checking around for items in stock before you buy ?  Everything I bought came right away.  Longest thing I had to wait for was my upper, which took 3 weeks.  The upper would've come earlier, but I had them KG gun kote the barrel which delayed the process a little.

I got an email back saying it will be another month. They said it was because it was a new product. I dont mind waiting just the lack of communication surprised me. I ran an online store and we told people things were out of stock within a day, not 2 months later
