Below are a few parts that I recently came across with which I could use some help identifying the significance of or date of use.

Edgewater buffer: When was this used?  This is the first one that I have seen.  Is this a common part or a keeper?

Forward assist buttons:  When were the different types used?  Any significance with the different styles of large round button faces or teardrop handles?

The buffer is a keeper and would have been used until late '66

They replaced it because it was kind of fragile so when I say keep it it's good for making a build correct but I don't shoot mine.

carbine buffer tube nut looks aftermarket to me..........its the wrong color and does not have the staking notches in it. The style that is being imitated by that example would have come out with the first xm177's . I am not sure when they went to the presently used style............probably with the M4.
On the teardrop forward assist buttons............looks like you've swapped 6 and 7 around in the 2nd picture.  Your first picture showing all of them together looks to have the original at the #6 position and at the #7 position when showing them individually. The originals had the tapered edge and v-grooved splines while reproductions have square grooves and no tapered edge. Would have come out with the first FA uppers and used until the first round one appeared, but I am not sure when the rounds came into being.
