Is it okay to swap the bcg or just the bolt from one AR15 to another without checking headspace and fear of bad things happening? Both for troubleshooting and just different builds?
Any parts that should not be swapped between 2 rifles? |

The bolt should be checked for proper headspace when first installed. Then you make sure that bolt stays with that barrel. The bolt/barrel wear in together as it is fired. When you mix used parts together, it can cause problems if they do not fit eachother. Cheaper to buy a bolt for each barrel. Bolt carrier can be swapped as much as you want. Its the bolt/barrel that lock up and contain the pressure of the round going off. |
