It looked interesting so I bought one. Received it yesterday, it came with all of the neccesssary mounting screws. I had a pair of inexpensive plastic dark brown 1911 grip slabs that I picked up at the recent local fun show and proceeded to mount it to my least favorite AR of my collection, a DPMS. The grip mounted easily, except that the button head allen mounting screw is loaded blind (in a cavity 7/8ths of an inch by inch and a half)  so an Allen wrench is required. Once mounted on the lower I proceeded to affix the 1911 scales (grip set halves), the ejection port side scale mounted without a hitch. The selector lever side scale, however, interferred with the rotation of the selector lever. Materiel (about a 1/16th of an inch or so) had to be removed along the top of the scale to allow the selector lever to rotate freely.

The Pearce grip has the feel of a fat 1911, definitely fatter than a Hogue or Magpul Moe pistol grip. If you shot a 1911 or have large hands it will probably feel pretty comfortable, but if you prefer ergonomic grips it will take a little getting used to. The only part I'm have a problem with so far is the sharp checkering of the plastic 1911 grip scales, otherwise it feels pretty comfortable. It does give the typical AR a unique apperance.

Just thought I'd share my experience. Has anyone else tried this product yet?

Good info...I'm thinking about picking an adapter up just for grins...

That is about the only negative thing I've been able to find...they hang over the bottom edge of the upper receiver and may block the selector switch.  Pics??

Some retailers do include a note like this one from Bud's Gun Shop:

"Very nice fit. A bit to get used to the angle but once you adapt to it, it is realy nice. Be warned, you WILL need to trim the left side top of the grip to fit the safety."

The company's web site does not point out this fitting conflict, but packaging does.

I used an inexpensive pair of plastic 1911 grip scales that I picked up for $5.00 (expecting the worst), it would be a shame to mess up good pair of 1911 grip scales

The company is kinda being sketchy about that issue....those pics i posted were from the company, and note......all pics only show the right side.

And that's why I requested the OP to post pics of fitment on his...

It wouldn't be too big a deal to trim a little from the left scale, OR if I could space the adapter somehow (probably wouldn't need much) between the top of the adapter and bottom of the receiver.  I'll end up picking one up to play with one day im sure

I handled one of these years ago.  Its a waste of time.  Its the 1911 crowd trying to be cool.  Its like the "hunter" guys making wood furniture for the AR15 or the mall ninjas mounting a Glock as a VFG.  Its a shitty grip angle, its an uncomfortable feel, it places too much weight on the wrist, it bites into your web..its a soup sandwich.

For those of you who have this and like it...more power to you.

"It wouldn't be too big a deal to trim a little from the left scale"

Seeing I'm not too Photobucket savey, I'll try to provide a mental picture. After I finished altering the left side 1911 grip scale, the top of the scale was on an angle to the pistol grip.If you run an imaginary straight line along the top of the left side scale the angle line in the rear would intersect where the upper receiver and pistol grip mate. at the front point of the scale top is a 1/4 of an inch below the upper reciever where it mates the top of the pistol grip. If I ever do it again, I'll try to just clear for the swing radius (3/4 of an inch) of the selector lever. Or maybe just notch it out. I only had $5 in the 1911 grip scales so it wasn't any big loss.

It's definately a novelty item.

I've got the picture.

And the novelty of it would make me try...Its not because I am in love with the way my 1911 fits my hand that I want the AR to feel the same way.  If I could make a nice matched set out of the two, it would be for the novelty of it.  Neither see combat action.
