| Can I install a YHM free float without removing the flash hider? Thinking about getting an M4 with perm A2 hider. |

if you have the standard front sight gas block its not going to happen. removing the flash supressor is one step in getting the gas block out of the way so you can put your tube on. eta you can cut your old gas block off and replace it with a 2 piece clamp on unit if you want...but taking a flash supressor off it cake. |
You can 'carefully' cut both sides of the front sight base until you can split it in half to remove it from the barrel. Then you need to cut the handguard cap off. Now the original barrel nut will come off and you can replace it with a free floating handguard with a dedicated barrel nut. You will need a clamp-on gas block or flip-op front sight afterwards. YHM makes both of these. The OTHER way to go is to use a Troy, MI or Samson rail that clamps on to the factory barrel nut. These do NOT require removal of the front sight base. |
