Without spending $200 plus on a DD rail?

~$200 for a Troy rail or a bit less depending what configuration

eta:  or cut the old one off yourself, install the rail you want and send it to adco and have a new muzzle device pinned and welded...pretty much going to be a wash with shipping and the new fh/shop services

Okay. Now that leads to another question. How is the DD Omega rail free floating? Every other free float I see out there requires you to take the gas block off.

I'd sell the upper through the equipment exchange and then buy one set up the way you want. Bravo Company sells them ready to go.

The rail is a two-piece free float that does not require any modifications to your weapon.  It attaches to the existing barrel nut under the the delta ring.  It is not too much different than changing handguards.   It is an extremely solid rail.

A good review here:

There are other options that will require you to dremel off your delta ring.  I believe Troy and MI both make a version of those.  I have no experiences with either brand, so I can't comment.

I have two Troys that have worked well for me.  They are a bit heavy though.

Midwest Industries makes a couple models too. Or you can just take off the muzzle thingy then re pin it or install a new one when you're done.

1] assemble the upper w/14.5 bbl

2] pin and weld hider onto assembled upper

3] retrive your lower and enjoy
