I hear alot about Permaslik being the closest thing on the market to mil-spec DFL applied to USGI magazines. My question is "just how close does the color match"?

I recently picked up a stack of refurbs with GFs & what appears to be Permaslik applied to them. The color reminds me of battleship grey with a bit of a bluish hue. Now the only mags I own/have handled are old & reasonably worn (which might explain the color difference) but the finish on them (or what remains) is a dark, almost charcoal grey. So is Permaslik an exact/damn close match in terms of color, or just the best thing out there for a decent, easy, & cheap finish?

There are lots of reasons for variations in the color of mags. I can find NIW mags from the different makers that have different appearances. PermaSilk is as close as it gets to the original finish that came on the mag.

Ok that half answers my question. More specifically, do Permaslik treated mags come out in that battle ship grey (with a blush hue) color?

Yes if done properly. I have refinished mags with the Perma Silk and they come out with that finish. I have these mags mixed with mags that I know have never been refinished and the only way I can tell the difference is by looking at the floor plates.
