My only complaint about the FC-2 is that I wish the center dot was 1 MOA instead of 2. That's the reticle my buddy has in his. It's nice cause it's real fast to pick up, but I like having some type of mil scale for shot corrections and ranging. I don't range stuff too often with my mk6, but use the reticle a lot for shot corrections, especially out past 200 yards. I almost went with that scope but it was right when everybody started putting out the 1-6 optics. |
|

if that reticle had a 4mil drop scale on it i think it would be tits. and yes a 1moa center dot as well.

It's because you have such a low post-count. They show up for team members (nice looking rifle, though the bubble gum pink isn't my thing) and will for everyone once you hit 50 posts. Anti-spam thing.

She saw the pink magpul MOE Grip and stock and loved that it wasn't your standard black. She's happy to have the color and it sure grabs a lot of attention. Plus if SHTF it's getting painted black, and that came from her mouth not mine. :) |

Would a older USO SN4 be anywhere in the realm of clone appropriate optics for a RECCE?

I take it yours came around and you changed your mind from initial impressions? I can recommend any Rainier barrel that fits your budget too, i have yet to be let down by one. Research is your friend here and for the most part a cheap barrel is not a good one for a rifle built with the purposes intended for the one shown in this thread. That said, there is a point of diminishing returns that only shows benefits to a handful of shooters that truly are capable of taking testes off a gnat at 400 yards, i can't. |

Thanks guys, I really like the vortex, the xlr reticle is awesome and that's what really sold me on it.

How are you liking the Optisan 1-6? It's hard finding anyone using them. Do you have experience with any other low power variables that you can compare it to?

Wow really cool to see Parallax Tactical stuff making it to FL. They're my local go to shop here in San Diego. Joe is an awesome guy and they run a great store and make really awesome products at a competetive price!

View Quote I really, really like the CX6. I also have a Bushnell 1-4x24 throwdown. I actually think the optics are better in that the view seems flatter and crisper than the Throwdown. The CX6 seems closer to 1X than the Bushnell. The MS3 reticle is great and, IMHO, easier and faster than in the Bushnell. I have used all 3 ranging methods provide for by the reticle and they are very good. The Power Ring Ranging method is really fast and easy.Don't get me wrong. I like the Bushnell and for the money, I'm glad i have it. The CX6 costs more but I believe it is worth it. The CX6 illumination is brighter but that is expected given the differences between FFP and SFP designs. The design of the reticle with the thick circle and diamond really make it easy to pick up in close range 1x situations but the diamond tip does a good job of providing decent precision at 100 yds., too. I've not had a chance to try beyond 200 yds yet but hope to soon. The reticle is very crisp. In bright Florida sunshine, the black circle/diamond are easy to acquire in all by the darkest shadows and when set on the highest illumination setting, the reticle is a maroon to dark maroon color against lightly colored, brightly light backgrounds (light tan painted homes), dark red against grass and trees and red when looking in shadows. I have no problems putting the diamond on target in a wide range of lighting situations. Is it as bright as my Aimpoint? No. Is it as fast? No but almost. Is it as sharp as my TA33DOC ACOG? No but it is not bad by any stretch. What it is, is a really good compromise, especially for the price. I have several hundred rounds under it so far. I hit the range every week. If is as well made as it feels and holds up to lots of rounds, it will have lived up to all my expectations. I looked a lots of choices in gun stores and could not find a better low power, adjustable, illuminated scope with a great a reticle for close to what this cost. YMMV. I hope this helps. |

View Quote I talked with Roy at Weapon Outfitters in Bellevue, WA and we made a list of the parts I wanted. I usually build my own but decided to let WO put it together and test it. Not sorry I did. It all went great. Parallax makes some very nice stuff. I am really pleased with the results. W/o the optic, mount or ammo it weighs 7 lb, 10 oz. With the optic and mount it is 9 lb, 4 oz. |

Ducati,
Thanks for the gouge on the Optisan. I read the review by the guy that designed the reticle, but even he admitted his bias in his review. I'm really thinking of picking up either that optic, or the new Strike Eagle when it comes out (less price, and I'm sure not quite as good glass, but cheaper and less monetary risk). |

I like the thin front sight post, and the fact that the rear sight is adjustable from 200-600 meters. The only thing I am not a fan of is the price, which is why i considered the MBUS pro's. Seems like the extra money might be worth it for the upgraded features. |
