What kind of paint is that? from the thread above: and if you need a replacement, get some kodak black,
its a black paint used to fix cameras etc, looks identical,, actually made by kodak, not sure if they still make it or not, |

I couldn't find any Kodak paint for sale but my Google Foo may be weak today.
I DID find that it's been off the market for awhile and a product called Nextel Velvet Black is a good substitute but couldn't find any of it for sale either. These discussions were all on Camera or Optics forums. |

These discussions were all on Camera or Optics forums. funny how a camera forum will recommend a gun product while we're looking for a camera product for a gun: The very best thing for touching up cameras is the Birchwood Casey Super Black instant touch-up pen, which comes in both flat black and gloss black. You want flat black. Any good gun shop should have it. "Micro Tools", an online shop specializing in camera repair tools, also has them. $5.95 each. They also have a similar paint by the bottle that can be brushed on or sprayed on. http://photo.net/nikon-camera-forum/00REnn These are commonly used for cameras:

You're very unlikely to get a perfect match, but one of them may get you close. (They also have a white one for lenses. ) Ted http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3152688 honestly, it's such a small touch up and meant to stand out that almost anything should do. just be careful if you use any harsh cleaners like non-chlorinated brake cleaner. but you can always just reapply it. |
