Does anyone have a picture of a Colt 601 lower that shows the front pivot pin area?  I'm interested in building a clone.

thanks

Seeing as how it is the very first "M16" rifle, I would venture to guess that the receiver has the 90 degree bend under the pivot pin like the M16A1. It may have had the horizontal part of the raised fence as well (for the pivot detent and spring), but not the part of the fence that goes around the mag release. Surely someone can post a pic from an M16 book.

I'm not interested in the contour of the lower and the 601 doesn't have a detent ridge because is doesn't use the detent with pin.  The 601 uses a different type of pin.

I am interested in the hole itself.

You might want to ask in the M16 forum, as there are a few guys there that have a lot of knowledge about early M16 rifles.
