Ok, so I have been looking at some of the AR-15 pistol builds and it looks really tempting, but I had to give myself a reality check before I went and dropped money on something :)

So my question is this, do any of you use your AR-15 pistols for anything besides recreation?  (Which is a perfectly good reason to own one)
Have you used it for pest control etc?
Do any of you have your's setup as a home defense weapon?

Thanks

I've got several AR pistols.   My current things that go bump in the night gun is this 6.8 pistol.

It's relatively compact, reliable, and packs a punch.   I've got a SBR, but it'll do anything the SBR will, and I don't have to worry about leaving it out where my GF can get to it.  I shoot my AR pistols way more than the SBR.  They work and I don't have to worry about possession of them or travelling.

My pistol is always in my truck. I use it to kill hogs and other varmits. I have a few post with kills, just scroll down a few.

I've used my 7.5" pistol to shwack opossum and feral cats. They are real handy for quick shooting within approx 100 yards using a red dot, a 1-4x or most any low power optic. Basically it's a SBR, but without a stock so they are not useless. You lose muzzle velocity due to the short barrel, but short barreled weapons are not used for long range accuracy. Accuracy is very good within their effective range too. Whenever you're feeling froggy you can begin the SBR paperwork if you want to put a stock on it. Otherwise or in the mean time just leave it in pistol configuration.

Thank's all.

Can anyone point me toward a chart that shows the velocity for 5.56 fired from different barrel lengths?
