For someone who wants to use a normal carbine buffer, what options are out there right now? Rock River, Ace, and Spikes are the only ones I can think of.
I ordered 2 tubes from Rock River about 3 months ago. Was told 30 - 45 days 2 months ago. I'm about to give up on them. Ace is out due to their crappy customer service. Any other options? |

That might be perfect. What appears to be a pistol buffer tube made by Rock River without having to wait for them to ship it. Over 3 months on something that gave no indications of being out of stock when I ordered it is absurd. |

Another member told me it was a Rock River tube, but I can't be sure. This is my first pistol build. It looks nice, just screws in without a castle nut. I did do the mod for the spring so there wouldn't be issues unscrewing it. Just received the foam cover to finish my lower, Fucken ripped it.
Any way they are site sponsers too. |

Just use a normal carbine buffer tube. It's perfectly legal. Tie paracord around it if you to be w/ the fashion.

I've tried them. I've got several of the Rock River tubes. I like them, but their shipping times are over 3 months at this time. After my short email exchange a couple of months ago I'm of the opinion it's not worth dealing w/ them directly. Ace is worse. I've got a Model1Sales pistol tube. I like the Rock River ones better. I thought about a Spikes, but I don't see anything on their web site where they sell just the tube. |

I just cancelled my order w/ RRA. 3 months after my order I got this response when checking the order status "I still do not have a time frame, most parts are indefinite now." Indefinite order times means no business from me. That puts them about five minutes behind the 40 S&W lowers.

I wouldn't wait that long for anything ... well maybe a barrel if there are other vendors that stock it.

$25 for just the tube |

If it's $25 for just the tube I'm not finding it. it. Same problem as Spikes. Only listed in a kit. I've got everything but the tube. |
|
Probably give them a call. Doesn't appear they have a button for it.

I am thinking about it due to the inclusion of the tube/buffer & spring. It it as long as a carbine buffer tube? |

It looks a lot like an A1/A2 buffer tube, but shorter w/o the screw threads. I like the Rock River tubes a lot better. They're a bit larger around and have a better finish. I'm thinking about trying a couple of the ones from quentin-laser. Those look interesting if I can get them w/o everything else. |
| So any one actually handle that Quentin tube, looks nice on their pistols. Looks extremely fat which may be good for a cheek welding, but may add a bit of weight to the point of being heavy. I am not saying being a bit overweight is bad, may be good cushion for the pushing..........of the recoil impulse |

I'm going a wait a week or two and try again. I think it looks interesting. I'll try a couple if I can get them. |

I'd like to point out that the Palmetto kit is top notch. It simply lacks a castle nut. The tube is awesome, with high quality knurling near the open end, and as a bonus, the Magpul ASAP end plate. I just got mine delivered this past week.
P.S.: who has castle nuts in stock? I'm kind of at a standstill on my build...

I'm kind of at a standstill on my build... ![]() As stated above, the PSA kit uses the RRA tube and it DOES NOT use a castle nut. http://www.rockriverarms.com/images/products/larplwr10.gif Huh! I'm startled by this. This is my first pistol build, and in the past, everything needed a castle nut... OK, I've learned something. Now, how do you torque it to something akin to the 40 ft/lb for a rifle extension (or whatever the standard is-there are, of course, no instructions with it, or I'd have known it didn't need a castle nut). |
