I bought 2 striped lowers from a online vendor. I have bought from them before no problem. Last week I called and ordered 2 LMT/Lauer lowers. Both came to my FFL no problem it seemed but upon close examination one of them is marked on the RH side "pistol only".  I got 2 different stories about the legality of it as far as being used for a rifle build and I prefer to just send it back. The supplier said no problem so Monday its going back for exchange. Anyone else ever get one like that by mistake? I didnt even know they were made like that and dont see the reason but seems like they do.

Wouldn't pose a problem at all.....

Stripped receiver --> Pistol --> Rifle = OK

Stripped receiver --> Rifle --> Pistol = NOT OK

In your case, because it's marked "pistol" doesn't mean you can't build it as a rifle, but...if assembled as a rifle 1st, you can't legally use it as a pistol....even though it's marked.......it's all about how it was put together 1st, not what someone engraved on it.

I'd throw it together as a pistol, take some pics, then go from there. Just remember if you do that, 16"+ bbl assembly must go on the receiver before the stock. ( so you don't make an ilegal SBR..)

Confused yet?
