So I luckily stumbled into a Mega pistol lower, and Im researching its build. I saw a RRA pistol that uses a piston driven system and doesnt require a buffer setup (See pic below). I would like to build something similar, can someone explain how that may be possible, or who makes the kit, or is it proprietorially RRA ?

Is there any advantage to the buffer system...thats what the majority of people seem to be running

Likely cheaper, more common parts and a place to lay your cheek.

+1 on benefit of cheek weld (esp. w/rubber sleeve on tube)...

Another +1 on this!
I wouldn't want one if it
didn't have the buffer
tube!

I was originally looking for an RRA PDS pistol or a SIG 556 pistol, but I'm glad that I found an AR pistol with a buffer tube.  Seems like it may work out better, although a little longer.

I built one somewhat like the original ZM design, but a little beefed up and with an even shorter carrier so I didn't need any kind of receiver extension.

Should have the stamp back in a week or so to put a fully collapsing or side folding stock on it.  It will fire when folded, and it has a HK-style charging handle.

Got another similar upper in 6.8 that I finally test fired the other day.
