I'm in the process of building my first stripped MEGA lower and got to the pivot pin install, which I'm told is the most difficult part. I've read several suggested methods and available toosl for doing this but I actually got lucky and made it even simpler. I got to looking at it and wondered why I couldn't use the shank end of a 1/4" drill bit. So, I inserted the spring, then the detent, pressed it in with my fingernail, then inserted the drill bit from the opposite side. I slid the drill bit over a little farther to hold the detent. Next it was as simple as inserting the pivot pin and using it to drive the drill bit out by pushing the pivot pin in. Click! Done. This took all of about 10 seconds. Thanks for all y'alls help. CMOS

Believe me, nobody was more surprised than I at how easy the pivot pin install was. That's why I left that part for last. When that pin slipped in and I heard the "click," after only about 6 seconds of trying, I actually thought, "I must have forgotten something." ![]() Now I'm looking forward to building my second stripped lower!
