I have a DoubleStar M4 and I am about to buy the Troy MRF DI Rail. It says it is 7" but when I measure my stock handgaurds, they are a little over 6.5 inches and fit really tight without any movement.
Can anyone explain to me how the 7 inch rail will fit without having to modify my rifle? Keep in mind that these are drop in rails not free float. http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l11/musclecar01/handguard.jpg |

7" has come to be known as a carbine legth.
The measurement of apporx 7" is really directly taken from the measurement of a free float handguard (which includes the integral barrel nut as part of the overall length). So the acutal product you purchase for a drop in system (one that uses the exsisting delta ring/barrel nut assem) is a bit shorter. You will be good to go with the Troy DI-7 and your carbine. |
