I picked up a few of these empty .223 cases on my last trip to the range. I assume it is some sort of plastic bullet or training ammo but I am unsure. I know I've never seen anything like it. The headstamp is ".223 Rem PCA". Thanks for the input.

Those are the new polymer cased ammo.  It is a "full load" not training.  There are a number of threads on this from a month or more ago.  Consensus was that it was acceptable in all regards.

Not acceptable to me.  I had a case separate from the brass base.  I won't buy any more.

Most training rounds are blue.

An additional drawback to plastic cased ammo, caseless ammo, etc. is it's inability to remove heat from the chamber. Expect your 'baby" to run hotter using these types of ammo.
