Another newbie question. I searched, but to no avail....

I'm wanting to swap my A2 with a Phantom. I don't have an action block. Do I need one just to swap FHs or is there another way to do it without screwing up my baby? Thanks guys!

I have changed the flash hider without an action block.  As for a barrel, I won't do that without an action block, but the flash hider was quite easy.

How did you do it? Mine is on pretty tight. Like I said I'm an AR newbie and I don't want to stress the FSB or anything by putting it in a vice the wrong way, etc. Thanks for the fast reply!

Mine was not on "that" tight.  I grabbed the barrel with a towel over one of those rubber grip jar openers right below the flash hider, applied a little elbow grease, and off she came.

Absolutely, and this way is better than using an action block if you're going to have to put significant force on the barrel.  You can also use an aluminum bushing meant for this purpose, available from midway (it will leave aluminum behind, but that can be removed.)

Sounds like it's possible your current A2 is either perm attached or loctited down pretty good.  Make sure it's not a perm job before you yank on it too much.  Was the rifle bought during the AWB?

If you decide it's not perm attached, a little bit of heat can help -- particularly if there's red loctite on the threads.  Torch it, heat it up pretty good, and then take the wrench to it.
