I need to know if there is a difference between a flash-suppressor and a muzzle-brake.  Which should I install to reduce recoil on my AR-15?

Also, can you recommend a good recoil-buffer for a collapsable stock AR?

Thank a million!

I would go with a Colt "H" buffer before installing a muzzle brake

OR one of the MGI rate-reducing buffers, as I understand they tame recoil (what little there is) pretty well.

Yes there is

Well I think if you just read the name muzzle-brake it is self explained.
A muzzle brake will help reduce recoil.

A flash suppressor / hider is just that, It will reduce the amount of flash at the muzzle but do nothing for recoil.

You bet the stock one that comes with it.
There is no need to alter the buffer and spring on a new rifle. If it is a build you are doing then that may be a different question all together. In this case we would need more info as to what you are building.

Thank a million!
