Are these poly lowers any good?  Seems to me might be a fun project but I always thought the poly would crack and break especially in the buffer tube area.

Windham Weapons started by the man who sold Bushmaster to Remington to the Freedom Group has opened a new company with many of his original employees. They use Polymer Uppers and lowers for one of their models. Saw one at the Mesquite GS Saturday. I was impressed. What I saw was a very tight fit upper/lower combo that was well mated, and what appeared to be solid metal work for the barrel. It appears to be a solid gun. Why would they invest the time and money in polymer/carbon fiber based inventory unless they saw some real promise or advantage to it.

On a personal front, I ordered a Polymer 80 80% lower of my own to build. The part and the milling jig it comes with appear to be very well made. It has a brass threaded fitting in the pistol grip location so the PG is screwed into metal, not plastic, like most of the competition. Additionally, the stock tube threads into a metal collar molded into the receiver. I intend for this build to be a ratter/ truck gun and part-time hd gun. I have another thread where I updated that I now have all the parts and tools to begin the build. I will photograph or video the process with a range report  and post my results as soon as I finish the project.

I have only heard of one or two instances (unconfirmed) where these stocks failed so I can't address that issue at this time. Back when I'm done.
