DPMS Southpaw. 20" .980 1:8. $50 optics. Stock trigger. Sandbags. Wind was from 2->8 varying from 5-10mph. 55 grain Ultramax SP. 200 yards. 10 shots. Best grouping on the day.

Yes. All ten shots are there.

Is this any good? How much better could I expect from from either a JP single stage or a McCormick 2-stage drop in? Match grade ammo? A friend has agreed to let me use his Dillon 550 and is recommending Speer 55 gr FMJ and a 27 gr powder load. My goal is to put all ten shots in the X ring.

Am I dreaming? Or do I have a shot at it?

It's very possible to put all of the shots in the X, but keep in mind that you are talking about a gas gun, so don't loose it if you do find yourself with a single flyer out of the group over and over again.

As for your new reload, the reason that the SP is more accurate that the FMJ is that on the SP, the base of the round is solid copper, and not exposed lead like the FMJ.  For hands down tack-driving, you need to look at using HPBT Match bullets.

I think you could shrink that group a few more micrometers, if you concentrate a little more on your breathing.

Nice shooting.
