I recently purchased an Aimpoint Pro and finally got around to placing it on one of my rifles.  To my surprise after installation the red dot it more like a red blob.

Anyone ever have this issue and how did you get it resolved.  I emailed the company that sold me the product but will end up waiting until Monday to get a response.

Is this something I am going to have to take up with Aimpoint or do you think the company will allow me to return it and exchange it for another.

Thanks

Google the phrase "astigmatism and red dot sights".  There you may find your answer.

Its not astigmatism...I just shot last week with another Aimpoint product and didnt have any troubles with a red blob.  The red dot was very clear and crisp.

Turn it down to the lowest setting you need to be able to see the dot, given your current lighting conditions.

If you turn it all the way up, or even just too much for the surrounding light, it turns into a big mess.  Most of it caused by reflections from within the optic.

If that doesn't fix it, you might have an eye problem as was already mentioned.  The easiest way to check that is to take a picture of the red dot.  If it comes out clear in the picture, your eyes suck.  I have also found that simply having dry eyes can make the dot look crappy.  Drink some water, use some eyedrops to get some moisture on your eyes and try again.

Also, try looking through a rear sight

Using your cell phone camera without the flash, take a picture of the dot and post it.

It's good to go.  Eyes must have been tired.  Had it out this morning and red dot looks crisp and sharp!

Anyone have a jump to conclusions map that I can borrow?

Aimpoints indoors, especially when you're just playing with it at night, look horrible.

Go outside during the day, and shoot with it and it looks fine.  Same thing happens to me.

Bright sunny day=Nice round dot
Dawn/Dusk/Night/Indoors=Star shape way bigger than the MOA dot size

That's how the Aimpoints look to me. Looking through the small aperture on you rear sight if you have one. Not the ghost ring as it won't be very effective.
