NightForce is on holiday routine until after New Years so I can't ask them, so I will ask here.

I picked up a NF NXS 2.5-10x32 with the MOAR reticle on clearance from Midway. This is my first NF. Of course, the damn thing is amazing but I noticed what I think may be an issue. When illuminated, the reticle gets noticeably dimmer as you go down the vertical crosshairs. It starts around the 10 MOA mark. In other words, the illumination is not consistent thru out the reticle. Anyone with NF experience can you weigh in? Maybe I'm paranoid. The pics don't do justice but do show where the difference in intensity begins. At minimum illumination settings, below 10 MOA vertically is unusable.

I'll call NF when they get back in the office. I'm sure they will treat me well, just wanted opinions while I wait. Sorry the pic is upside down.

No, regular brightness. That pic is the fullest intensity. I guess my main concern is the inconsistency of brightness thru out the reticle, but this is my first NF, so I don't know what I don't know I guess.

Ah,
I misunderstood , hard reading/posting from the iPhone when my regular PC is 6k miles away.

Edit: btw, I have the same scope except mil/mil reticle. I'm now spoiled on Nightforce.

I like the mil reticle too. The MOAR just seemed to fit me better. I'm way impressed with the scope aside from the issue above. I may not go back either.

Normal. Both of the NF scopes I have, F1, and 2.5-10x42 with digi-lum are both inconsistent across the reticle.. Well built, durable scopes, but NF's illumination sucks butt when it comes to being consistent across the entire reticle.

Cool. Thanks for that. I'm debating whether or not to send it in to NF or back to Midway and getting another one. I mean it's not like it affects function, more cosmetic than anything. Just the principle since it's so expensive.  I won't be shooting it for a bit so I have some time to decide.

The x42 is a digital illumination but the x32 is not. If I remember correctly my x32 with hollow mil dots illuminated fully but don't take my word for it. I sold it a few months back so I may be wrong.

Update: sent it back for another one. Almost went for a 3.5-15 but didn't know if the MLR reticle was the right one for me.
