I bought a LMT lower about 1 1/2 yrs ago and registered it as an SBR. It then sat in a bench for about a year, until I bought a 10.5 LMT upper a few months ago. Prior to having the upper I was using my other rifle, and had never used the lower. I had several metal magazines, and noticed that 2 seemed particularly tight and would not drop free. Last week I received 6 new P-mags and none of them drop free either, so now I'm beginning to think that my magwell is out of spec?? Anyone have any suggestions on how to rectify this? Thanks! |

I saw another thread, maybe on the mag forum which indicated the fix was to sand down a small "bump" on the edge of the mag. Images indicating what to sand were provided. It's either that or go through a lot of hassle trying to get it right from LMT. OR you may have to use a fine file to fit the mag well yourself. I know that this is not what you wanted to hear, but it may be the most hassle free way to go. You could refinish the receiver with Duracoat or something of the like. |

And there is another lesson here too - before SBRing something you need to ensure the rifle is working properly. No sense in wasting a $200 stamp on a rifle that doesn't work right.
Check the mag section - there are pictures on how to modify the Pmags to fit correctly. Don't modify the receiver if you don't have to... Or go back to the standard aluminum mags - DSG has them for $10 with MagPul followers now anyhow... Spooky |

Yeah, no kidding about SBRing eh...who knew! I thought magwells were pretty standard......or were suppose to be.
Just going to aluminum mags won't work, as several of my aluminum mags seem tight also. Looks like I'll be SBRing my other lower, the bushy. Thanks for the help. |
