I didn't know if I should put this here or the troubleshooting forum, but here goes......

My brother ordered a complete upper from Daytona Tactical and it came in today.  I was taking a closer look and the free-float mono handguard was loose as was the anti-rotation screw and jam nut.  I tightened down the anti-rotation screw and the rail on top of the handguard and the rail on the receiver do not quite line up.  I am now concerned that the barrel nut is not aligned correctly.  Is it worth trying to tighten up the barrel nut myself and get the alignment right or should I just send it back and tell them to send me one done correctly?

Thanks in advance.

If you can fix it, go ahead. At least you'll know it's done right. I wouldn't trust them to get it right if that's how they sent out an upper

One more thing.... I noticed a shaving (from the stainless barrel) sticking out the back side of the barrel nut on the side of the receiver. And I don't own a barrel nut wrench.

That's two things.

Do yourself a favor and send it back.

This is part of the reason I build my own uppers now. The investment for tooling is minimal and satisfaction is maximal.

In a situation like this, I would just send it back for correction or replacement.  It would be one thing if they simply forgot to tighten down the anti-rotation screw, but this screams of all kinds of fail.
