Bear with me for a moment, as this may be a really stupid question. I live in CT and need to permanently fix a compensator on my new upper. Would a little J-B Weld work for this?  Is this considered "permanent?" Is it a terrible idea for one reason or another? I have never heard of this done before, but J-B Weld is probably strong enough to keep it there.

Thanks

most likely not considered permanent. ATF requires pinning/welding, but if your barrel is over 16" its not an ATF issue, its a state issue and they could have their own regs.

JB weld melts when heated, FYI.

As long as his barrel is 16 inches + he only has to meet CT law, not federal law(s) or ATF standards. I am not conversant with Ct law but I do know that many confuse and combine Federal and State laws, which leads to MUCH confusion.
Check the CT law regarding method and permanance of attachment to be sure. If his barrel is 16 inches (plus) he has already met Federal law....<><....:)

that's a no go...JBweld melts at 500~600 F.

Feds wants you to use 1100F silver solder...so, draw your conclusion from that...

remember this member is wondering about Ct law, NOT the Federal law. Perhaps the home state forums, or the Ct law books, are the place to seek the correct answer....<><....:)
