I live in one of the wonderful post ban compliant states (CT) and have a lower receiver and LPK, but don't know how to address the receiver extension tube. I have a Stag model 2 and it's obviously not telescoping. The tube is the length of what the telescoping one is fully extended. Anyone know where I can get this type of tube or what it's even called? I would also like to install a Magpul CTR or MOE on this and what hoping someone can provide some insight on how to do this. I know I can use the 6 position and pin it, but if I can replicate what Stag does and get the Magpul CTR to attach to it I would rather do that.
Thanks, Randy |

I also have a Stag ban tube that I modified to fit an MOE stock.
The tube should have a single threaded hole for a bolt, and not the normal mutliple positions for an adjustable stock. You'll also notice if you have a "normal" stock laying around that it doesn't slide onto the tube. The tube is mil-spec, but doesn't have the channel down the middle that would allow an adjustable stock to move back and forth. Many will argue the legality of the many various ways of permanently attaching a stock per the CT AWB requirement. Here's what I did: I drilled the single hole out so that the moving "pin" from the MOE stock would fit into it. The existing hole is much too small. Note that the aluminum is very hard so you'll need a very good drill bit (and perhaps a couple of successive sizes larger as I did), and the tube will need to be firmly held in place while doing this. Now... since there is only one "position" on this tube, and because there is no channel allowing movement, I figure that I am all set. I had to take apart the adjusting assembly on the MOE stock, slide the stock over the tube, and re-assemble in the single position that I created. The stock doesn't budge a milimeter, and I made absolutely zero modification to the stock itself. Now.... as for where to get one of these Stag Ban tubes? I wish I knew. Maybe try calling Stag. I've looked online and have never been able to find one. I got mine with a Stag rifle I bought years ago, which was cannibalized for parts. My next project is to pin an MOE stock to a normal tube... lots of instructions and methods out there... many drill a hole and use a roll pin. |
