flare launcher. grenade (40mm) is a Class3 item. i think the M4 stocks, pinned or collapsable are more comfortable than the standard A2. why not start with a post ban and work your way up to a preban? at least you'll get most of your money back selling the faux stock, i know i did. the question for you is, why bother with a semi version when you can buy a FA M16? see, it's not always that easy. |
|
I have a post ban M4orgery. Just as RAMBOSKY said, I bought it because I wanted it. I like the look. I don't really care that the stock doesn't collapse. If this really mattered to me, I would just put that upper on one of my pre-ban lowers. Why not go with a shorty and a fixed stock ? I did, I have a couple of them also. |

Quoted: Also I'm wearing a Harley Davidson shirt right now, and I ride a Suzuki GSX-R 750. I just don't care. I have a bunch of HD T shirts, but I NEVER wear 'em when I'm riding my Harley. I figure if you can't tell what kind of bike it is (despite all the HD clones out there) a T shirt isn't going to help all that much! HD riders are a fun bunch! All rugged individualists wearing EXACTLY the same stuff! [8D] Addendum: I tend to make sweeping generalizations! [:D] |

I wear my Volkswagen hat when I drive my Golf, so actually I am the coolest of all. I am not sure about the strength of the buttstock comment, If you drop it from 10 feet it will be ok. If you drop it from 50 feet anypart of it could break. If your body comes down hard on it a part of you will break before the stock will. |
|
Yeah it really isn't so bad, the look of the M4 collapsing stock with the full length buffer tube to help recoil. I have a preban collapsible, I have yet to fire it with the stock collapsed... It just doesn't look right. I associate the A1 or A2 stock with a 20" AR or M16. A carbine with a full length stock, or a full rifle with a carbine stock, both look like a bastard child of a gun. [;)] |
| I once shot with a very petite female who actually used the adjustable collasable stock. She knew which setting provided her with the most comfort. Everyone else I ever met that had a collaspable stock use it fully extended including me. I sometimes collapse mine and look at it and think it looks cool, but the reality of the situation is that the only value it has to me is looks. So, I am at no disadvantage having a fixed stock. And if I get the overwhelming urge to actually have a collapsable stock, I can shoot any one of the three pre-bans I own that have one. |
|
Quoted: the question for you is, why bother with a semi version when you can buy a FA M16? see, it's not always that easy. Semi-auto is exactly why my brother will not bother buying an AR==after years working for the DOJ and now serving with the Air Force, he's gotten a bit spoiled. He was saving up for a FA, but then he got transferred to Illinois and his next assignment is jolly olde England--the gods of RKBA have been frowning on the poor guy! My point is, that I wonder how many other people out there believe that a semi-only 5.56 is a waste of time? |
|
Quoted: I dont understand why would someone want a Fixed/pinned retractable stock? Maybe the person buying the fixed pinned stock is going to remove the roll pins and make it fully collapsible when Bush Veto's the Brady Bull Shit Bill. Another Team Member stated it very truthfully, Because We Can!!!!! |
|
I thought it had to be permanent, like welded? Anyway, it does have some use. I played around with it and one click in wasn't too uncomfortable. Say using it indoors if ya had to defend yourself at home. Or if the GF/wife needed to defend herself. Really hoping AW ban goes away, methinks it will get renewed. [:(] |
| I'll tell ya why I got mine 1 I like the way it looks. And 2 I was in the dark when I bought it I did not know that there was post and pre ban weapons. All the gun shops down here I aksed said that a real tele-stock was illegal and that I could only have one that was fixed. But what they did'nt tell me was that I could get a pre-ban weapon that could have one. If I could do it over and knew what I know now I would go pre-ban |
|
Quoted: My point is, that I wonder how many other people out there believe that a semi-only 5.56 is a waste of time? Well, if you like to actually HIT your target beyond 50 yds, then semi-only is not a waste at all. If you want to empty a magazine in a hurry, there's always bump-firing... |

I Thank You For all your comments! Just for the Looks ONLY!! I Knew it couldnt be anything else! O YEAH Besides Not Being rich and buying a Pre Ban!! I was thinking there was a ADVANTAGE going To A Fake retractable Stock! And it seems some were bent out of shape over the Question it was not my intent to upset anyone! UNDERDOG!! Yeah thats Bad!! Im thinking of swapping for a ACE myself! Looks Alot Stronger Than (The Super Cool Looks) of a Fake FIXED Retracktable Stock! THOF!! Yeah That would suck if not knowing what you were getting! But hey its a AR15 and you could always trade in And Get The REAL DEAL!!/ I still kick myself for selling my Colt it had the Full auto,Semi, safe selector on the lower I havent seen one for awhile! The First day I took it out I had a FTF problem wich later find out that I set the selector on auto instead of semi (I was a Teenager)! After awhile I still had problems and sold it for 800 bucks! Damn I could of had a Retractable Stock Rrr! |
|
Well FMJ, yeah the fake collapsible is for looks, but functionally it is the same. So why the big deal? You mention Harley Davidson - they were a hard core group. Now people buying Harleys are mainly middle class yuppies because of the name, and then they scoff at japanese bike riders cuz they have a "real" bike... |
|
O My God!! The Harley comment was just that! I myself LAUGH At Guys who Look the Biker Type Style with Harley Leather Jackets and look down and they are driving a Honda! Im not cutting the Bike its the the Dude! Here is another example!!!!!!!!!!! Wearing Bushmaster TEAM Jacket and Shoot For HESS,etc! Dont you think its a little Odd????? I wanted to know why the Fake Tele stock and M4 Barrel was about?? Pros/Cons GET IT???????Get IT???? IF YOU READ I SAID I DID NOT MEAN TO UPSET ANYONE!!!!!!!!! GROW UP!!! If you dont like it Im very sorry!!! is that okay now?????????????? I myself ride Honda I dont much care for Hogs!! I would feel FUNNY wearing HARLEY JACKET/CHAPS Rideing a HONDA!! Meaning Stay Loyal to your Ride! |
|
Sure it's looks, but functionally it's the same. The buffer tube is the same length. I don't see much difference in cheek weld, then again I have a bunch of rifles, and I shoot all of them so I am not used to one and only 1 setup. A M4 carbine with a A2 buttstock just looks weird - like you took a M16A2, chopped it in half, and threw a M4 on the front on it. Who wants to spend $800-1000 on a gun thats ugly?? Like if you ever saw someone who put 13" rims on a caddy. The guy that put em on thinks it looks good, but nearly everone that looks at it thinks WTF kind of ugly crap is that??? |

Whoa there Gator! I happen to have a Bushy M4 with an A2 stock. I didn't like the feel of the fake telestock, so off it came. Of course I added a Surefire 500A and an Aimpoint Comp ML2 to finish things out. The large foregrip and light balance nicely (both weight and looks) with the full stock. The result is anything but ugly. So I guess the answer to your question is: It's the ugly kind of crap that makes the owner happy-and that's all that matters!! DILBERT_556 |

(I Buy a Rifle because it looks good)? Now I buy a Rifle that Works to save my butt not just cause it looks cool!Thats Me and Im must be the only one on AR15.com that Knows it! Wich I Find Odd odd? Fake Tele stocks are kinda Weak ! I prefer the A1/A2 Standard Stock because you can use it to lean on going PRONE try it with a Tele? More Storage Room! Stronger less likely to FAIL! Buying a rifle just on looks alone?? Ha Ha! Come on NowPlease? Im I the only person Who thinks the Fixed Tele isnt Practical on a POST BAN CARBINE m4/shorty etc? Get a A1Stock or A2 Or the Ace wich seems Stronger than the Fake Tele! I might just get a Ace stock? Now this will get ya I bet! On a Shorty/M4 I think the A1 upper or Flat top are Alot More Practical and Better than the A2 upper! What the A2 looks Better? Please theres got be somone? I DO AGREE THAT THE FAKE M4 LOOKS AWESOME!!! and would make nice shooter on the weekends!! MY BAD? MY TOPIC SHOULD STATE M4 POST BAN FOR PRCTICAL/DEFENCE? IM SORRY TO UPSET THE POST BAN M4 FANS?? WE HOWEVER DO HAVE ONE THING IN COMMON?? WE LOVE THE M16/AR15 RIFLE! WE EACH HAVE OUR OWN WAYS!!! SORRY THIS TOPIC SEEMS LIKE I WAS ATTACKING YOU! I SHOULD OF NEVER MADE THE HONDA/H.D. REMARK!! |

CRC- Methinks your statement would apply to all AR's. I would love to have all of the evil features, but I can't afford it. FMJ-You aren't alone on the telestock vs A2 issue. Read my earlier post. When I said I didn't like the feel of the telestock, the main reason is my perception of it's strength. I am not the Rambo type, never will be, but if I ever have to butt stroke someone with my AR-I dont want the rifle rendered inop due to a bent buffer tube. The main reason I went with the M4 in the first place was the light(er) weight short barrel and the evil obnoxious mini-Y brake. Noise aside, this brake works! There is virtually NO muzzle flip or recoil. In concert with the Aimpoint it is VERY fast on target and stays there for quick followups. I have always been a form follows function kind of guy, as I suspect you are. Looks come second, but we can always try for both, cant we? BTW I'm almost hesitant to mention this, but I ride a HONDA. I think the fake tele stocks look cool but if they really don't collapse, I don't' see the point. When I first got my AR (a little over a year ago) I almost got a fake tele stock but I went with an A2 and I'm glad I did. The rifle is more solid feeling and I have a place to stow spare parts and batteries for optics and lights. I've heard of collapsible stocks breaking but I've never heard of an A1 or A2 stock breaking. If someone has managed to break an A1/A2 stock, I'd love to hear about it. The more I shoot, the more I realize that how something looks means nothing compared to how it functions and how reliable it is. When the AW ban sunsets, I might get a real collapsible stock to just to try it out. I have an HK-94 with an A3 (sliding stock) and I love it. It's functional and makes a much bigger difference in the OAL of the rifle (+/- 7 ") compared to the AR collapsible stock (+/- 4"). But hey, I believe in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness so if a faux tele stock makes you happy, more power to you. |

FMJ, a buncha people aren't buying M4orgeries for survival. As far as survival yeah the A2 is a much better choice. For that point why the ACE stocks? You lose the stowage compartment. If one or two guys broke into my house and I can't hit 'em once with a 30 round mag then I'm probably too much of a goof for the buttstock to be of any help either... As far as teotwawaki, it's tinfoil hat time. I'll bite on the A2. It IS more practical in a survival situation over a A4. Your fancy red dot dies or gets mudded up, whatever. What if your removeable carry handle lost zero? What if you lost it? Or you have to yell "time out" to dig through pockets to mount your handle under the stress of fire?? The aimpoint railgrabber means you can look through it and use irons if it's only a battery failure. If the lens is mudded up you quickly remove it and you instantly have your irons. A2 with a sight leaves less factors for Murphy. But you probably get the A4 because an AR with optics on a flattop looks better then an AR with optics on a carry handle [;)] If you feel so strong about it, don't buy one, mmkay?? It's okay to turn off yer caps lock key too. [;)] |

Id rather use a 12 or 20 gauge myself for House protection!! Or just a Handgun the AR/M16 would be a Later pick Butt thats just me! BIG FAN OF KISS!!! NO _ _ _ _ _ NOT THE ROCK GROUP! Dilbert_556! Yeah you have that right Light wieght M4 barrel on a carbine Makes since ! I Bet bushmaster didnt have there light wieght Barrel on the market when you got your AR15?? My First Bike was a Sukyyaki 100 back in 75 Then I moved up to a Honda 250 in 76! After that is were trouble started.I Got real addicted to Bikes by my Teen years 650/1100'S wich led to raceing showing off in front of the ladies and stay in the hospital a few times! But yeah Big Honda Fan! Matt B I hear ya! They do look Awesome! And if guys want them go for it!! |

Post ban M4? Because you can't afford a pre-ban. Fake Tele-stock? It's lighter than an A2. (If the CavArms C1 is lighter because it doesn't have the foam in it, then surely the fake tele is also lighter, right?) Post-ban M4 barrel? Lighter than an HBAR, and full 16" with bare muzzle has longer effective range than 14.5" with flash-hider. |
| FMJ, come on, telling other people to give it a rest. I read this thread, and about every other post is yours talking about how stupid M4gery's are. You know you dont have to keep reading and responding to posts on this thread. Everyone has an opinion, and that is all you have, an opinion. You arent going to convince anyone here that likes pinned collapsible stocks that they are not any good. If they were as bad as you make them out to be, I doubt too many people would own an M4gery. I like both, but it realy depends on what your looking for, and your personality. |
| I have both, and see no practicla advantage to a pre-ban other than ease in storage. You extend the stock to shoot it anyway. carry my post ban Bushy in the woods and shoot it most because the pre-ban is quite valuable now as a collectors item, The bushy can be customised or messed with like a hobby gun, I 'd rather leave a pre-ban alone. |
