the stock assembly is worth at least $140

From here, it looks as if the lower my be salvagable with a very careful application of pressure on the sides.  Since the barrel is undamaged, and the upper, bolt, and carrier are all parts that can be replaced, your buddy might want to spend the bucks to restore the piece rather than part it out.

The lower is not particularly important, structurally. I would rebend.

i would not try to use it anymore, looks pretty bent. maybe it can be salvaged/rebent though
