Does anyone else worry that the magazines produced after the election are not going to be as good quality?

Running 24-7 with parts shortages, untrained employees, and overburdened quality control. Anyone waiting to buy new mags until demand settles down?

I work in manufacturing and I know when we get rushed, quality falls.

I have been wondering the same thing.

A comment from the manufactures would be great here.  I would think that because there really isn't anything complicated with the manufacturing of the mags, it shouldn't be much of an issue.

Really?  A comment from the manufacturers?

If a manufacturer WAS having QC problems, do you think they are going to tell you and I?

You should be able to figure most of it out yourself if you just read the boards here and elsewhere and ask around locally or watch what others are using that seems to work.

I've just received ten of the black Pmag 30 rounders marked 1/09 and they seem fine, but the packaging has gotten a little Spartan.  No fancy ziplock with the information insert.  Just a sealed bag with the mag inside and nothing else.  It seems Magpul is skimping on the package to get the mags to market faster.  No problem if they work just as well.

that was kind of my point. I don't think there is much of an issue w/ mags.  I'd be more concerned if I was buying a complete gun or major parts, like a barrel, ect.

I understand where you guys are coming from in your concern. Right before the last ban, some companies made gazillions more mags than usual and their quality suffered. But the key here is that most of these were cheap after-market magazine manufacturers who didn't exactly make the highest quality stuff to begin with....companies like USA, Triple K, ProMag, etc. These weren't good mags to start with. But those made just before the ban were even worse. I heard few if any complaints about companies who made good quality stuff to begin with.

Companies like D&H, Okay, Center Industries, C-Products, Magpul, etc already produce one heck of a quantity of mags. Most of these companies have military contracts for mags, both for our armed forces and that of other nations. What we as individuals buy isn't a drop in the bucket compared to the number of mags made for government contracts.

I have no issues buying mags made by companies with a reputation for good quality. That is true even with the increased demand following the election. Those companies capable of making large numbers of good quality mags before the increased demand will be able to churn out a higher number of mags as needed without the quality going down the drain. This is because they provide good attention to detail and have the facilities and resources to pull it off. So even with an increased volume, they are still going to turn out good products.

Depends on where you work I guess, I work in Manufacturing too, and if our quality fails it's because the employees failed to do their in-process inspections

I'm not concerend about the quality of product being put out but I do wonder if companies are starting to focus production on magazine bodies instead of complete magazines in case a ban is enacted preventing new magazine bodies from being produced. (like in '94).

Good point.

I actually considered buying a lot of bodies....

You can get more for the same amount of money, and I thought they might be easier to get.

The body is pretty much the receiver of the magazine, how I understand it...

People buy up lower receivers.... why not buy up magazine "receivers".

I bought PMag 30 magazines about five months ago, then bought more in December.  They had different manufacturing dates, the quality of all looks terrific.  The followers run smooth as they should.  I bought Bravo Company 30's in October, they too are terrific.  So far, I see no decline in quality from those two manufacturers.

During the last AWB, I remember not being able to buy high capacity magazines for my handguns (I'm only recently into the black rifles).  BUT, I remember that you COULD buy any magazine component you wanted, including high cap mag bodies, BUT it was illegal to assemble those components into a complete functioning high cap magazine.  Did that apply to the AR's as well?

magpuls look fine, though as somebody pointed out earlier, the packaging is a bit skimpy compared to the old ziplocs.  but who really cares about the packaging anyways?

+10000000000  IN Process Controls     Any company that does not use some type of QC in process is not efficiently running a company and fails at true Quality Control. Just because your production rate goes up does not mean that quality has to fail.
