I've got my 16" gun, I was just wondering if anyone has a 20" SHTF gun. I like the looks, Mobility in the car isn't a concern, because I would be mounting a collapsible CTR stock, so that would make up in compactness for the lengthy barrel. Just wondering what y'all thought?

In most cases, it's unlikely that you'll need to shoot anything at more than 100-200m, as in SHTF, you'll be running away/hiding from "lootie" and his mates, not hunting down bad guys. A 20" would be overkill, IMHO. Then again, my personal SHTF weapon is a SMLE... YMMV, etc.

Nothing wrong with it.

I have a 16" and a 20" for SHTF. The 16" has all the fancy modern day gizmos on it. The 20" is KISS. It has a small fixed 2.5x attached to the carry handle and that's it. Well no, I'm sorry. It also has a magazine pouch on the stock. But nothing like Eo-Techs and Acogs.

The 20" will do you fine just as a 16". Go in the classic ARFCOM tradition. Get Both!

A firearm is better then no firearm. Unless you can throw a rock at 1,000fps and do it accurately and hit targets up to 600 yards away then I suggest you get a firearm. Whether it's a Hi-Point C9 or a Browning M2H. Something is better then nothing.

You live in OK there is nothing wrong with a 20" especially if you live in a rural area.

You may want to look into 6.8, 6.5, or 308 depending on your budget.

If I'm hunting badguys, I've got my R700 to play tag with them.  When they get too close (or the SHTF), I have one of several M4'geries or AKs to respond with.

What brand of uppers should I particularly pay close attention to?
