In the future I am looking at getting a 18" AR .223 like the Stag 3 Gun.
Until then I would like to set up a .22LR for practice toward this future gun and also for possible Ruger Rimfire challenge competition. I am considering the following options: (with these options I could just buy a Stag 3 Gun upper and then I would have a .223 with same trigger that I had been using with the 22lr) Nordic NC22 18" upper with Stag 3G lower ($500 + Stag lower) DPMS upper with Stag 3G lower - but only comes in 16" barrel ($400 + Stag lower) CMMG upper with Stag 3G lower - but would need to change forearm to closer match an actual 3G ($400 + forearm + Stag lower) S&W MP15-22 ($500 but would not have match Stag 3G lower or same quality trigger and also I would have to buy complete gun $1450 to get a .223 Stag 3 Gun) What's the best option? I think the Nordic option gets a gun that is closest configured to match the 3Gun that I would want in the future.. The negative is that I can't find a Nordic upper and I want a 18" one. The DPMS is next closest but only comes in 16" barrel. The CMMG would need forearm replacement. S&W MP-15 does not help toward future 3Gun parts and the trigger may need to be changed to match. Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions on these choices or if you have another idea. Mike |

Can't afford to buy both right now or I would do just that. That is why most of the options are using parts that will go toward that 3 Gun with the advantage of the .22LR using the same components of the lower, with the same stock, trigger, etc.
The cheaper quicker option is the S&W MP15-22 but it does not help me toward the parts for a .223 3 gun and would not have the same trigger without buying or changing the stock trigger. Which upper is the best option? I go back and forth on all the options and can't decide. The Nordic is one option I can't do right now because it is not available but might be at any time but nobody knows or will say. Used Nordic are not listed anywhere that I can find either. Mike |
