I have from time to time seen post on this forum trying to determine if a lower was pre ban or not.

Why is it relevant/ make a difference now that the AWB has sun setted?

I saw a pre ban Essential arms parts gun at a gun shop today.  It had an A2 Carbine post ban upper I think was Bushmaster.  The barrel was a 14.5 inch with some kind of fixed compensator.  Also it had an A.R.M.S. #51 rail on it.

The rifle was really priced right, but had absolutely nothing on it I was interested in.  But I wondered if it might be worth buying and parting it out.

Only relevent in states with an AWB. Texas is not one of them.

New stripped lowers can be had for under a hundred bucks now a days.

The rest of the parts you mention are also antiquated 90's tech.
