I keep seeing ads in EE for preban lowers etc.
I have been living under a rock for the last couple of years, but I don't remember a new ban of any sort taking place.

What would make a lower worth more if it is "preban" verses one produced in the last year or so?

Some states still have a ban.

There are a few states with "feel good about crime stopping crime without hard facts just liberal opinions" laws on the book (i.e. NY extended the Federal 1994 - 2004 ban at a state level).  That's the significance of it.

I forgot all about that.
So for those of us living in a free state there is really no difference correct?

I have seen the same preban lower that I own sell for more than I bought my compete "preban" rifle for.
Any reason to hold on to it? From the looks of it I could sell it and then go buy two new lowers to replace it with.
Maybe its just because I haven't bought anything in so long, but the prices of things make me go

<–– prebans are expensive here

A friend recently paid $1000 for a complete preban lower.
The guy ahead of my friend at the store bought two for $1200 each! Lunacy!

Sell it to someone in CT for the price of two new lowers!

If the advertisement were actually in one of those states, it would make sense.  Advertising a preban anything in AZ indicates a room temperature IQ.

Some cockbreath constantly puts up an overpriced "preban Colt collectors rifle" on our local backpage.  I send him some very nice emails about his fine museum piece.

Wow.

It has been several years, but I bought a "preban" PWA lower with your typical A2 upper and gov. profile 20" barrel.
It set me back 4 bills used.

It may be cheaper to move than catch BRD in a ban state.
