I just received my PA 3X Compact Scope. For a budget optic I can say that it is well built and performs very well. I put it on my brand new M&P-15 (California edition) and took it to the range. It sighted in with no problems and all the adjustments were firm enough to stay in place and not to firm where movement was difficult. The illuminated reticle was not needed during the daylight, but looked great in the evening. After I got it sighted in, I removed and reinstalled it and RTZ was spot on.
This was a great buy for me and the latest model even came with flip up covers. I recommend this to anyone looking for a good quality optic for a reasonable price. http://jdforte.com/Pics/M&P15-1.jpg http://jdforte.com/Pics/M&P15-2.jpg |

Hey CodaMan, did your PAC3X come in an original box? Or was it just a brown shipping box with a PAC3X white sticker on it? Also mine didn't come with the nice flip up caps with red button on the back. Are those the ones that came with it? Just wondering if maybe mine was a return, or an older version. |

They all ship with the brown box with the sticker. The flip cap with the button is a aftermarket Butler Creek cap |

The flip cap with the button is a aftermarket Butler Creek cap Thanks Marshall. OP, in your review you specifically talked about the fact that the scope comes with flip caps. It would have been useful information if you had also disclosed that the ones in the pictures aren't the originals, but upgrades. |

Wow. Thanks for clearing that up Marshall. You really are on top of things on this forum, smart business. BTW I absolutely love the scope... I did a ton of research before I decided which one and it has turned out to be everything I was expecting.
One more question though. When I use it at night (pitch black and even with slight lighting from street light) I see slight ghosting around the reticle from the red laser. This impairs your target aquisition because the "red cloud" bleeds between the reticle lines. This will be cleared up once I mount my flashlight, but there maybe times where I wouldn't want to use my flashlight to stay concealed. I am in no way gonna return it, but FYI maybe on the next batch the factory should make the #1 setting about half the power it is now if possible. Then, it would be a perfect scope. Thank you for a great value. |

I'm all over this scope once I have the funds! How well does it work for shorter range shooting <50 meters? Not a problem at all. Obviously it is easier to acquire a target at close range when you have no magnification. But I was practicing quick sighting different targets at 20 yards and didn't have any problems. I found that I can keep both eyes open, even when shooting 100 yards. I think the key is to practice drawing from the ready position and making your cheek hit the exact spot it needs to on your stock, everytime. I think this scope has the best balance of CQ and long range you can get. |
