From what I read, it's made by Raug. Tho at that price range, Magtech is a much better buy. Magtech is a little faster as well.

IMHO... they have priced themselves out of the competition.

For a newcomer in the market, and with very limited "press", asking approx. 97 cents / shot is going to be a tough sell.

Not to mention, offering no discount for case price.

And frankly ... I can only find a few places to purchase it.

One of those places wanted $66 / 50rds.... ummm.....that might be some of the most expensive .223 ammo I have ever seen.

In fairness... you can order from Primes website for less... but with shipping , the price is quite close to my limit

I have enough trouble stomaching .75ish cents a in .223/5.56.... when .223 hits the dollar a round mark, I will get out the .308 168gr SMK.

If they want more people to try it... they really need to lower the price, and advertise someplace like here. Not Big 5 Sporting goods.

I strongly believe that if RUAG can make GECO 55gr .223 inexpensively... then they can MOST certainly sell 77gr for less then 97 cents a round.

Someone... somewhere along the PRIME distribution line is making a killing... and I won't be part of it.

It's priced at/above FGMM, and given that it doesn't have a fraction of its reputation with which to justify its price, I'd expect it to shoot even better than FGMM given its price, but I doubt it would. I think I got my last case of BH blue box 77gr for less than .70cpr shipped, if it can't beat that I guess I'll never find out how it shoots firsthand.

Thanks for the input fellas. Im finishing up this last larue 20" stealth build beforr i go back in the army. Wanted to get a few top notch rounds to see what it liked so i coukd figure out what glass i will get for 0-800m shooting. Black Hills 69+77, imi 69+77. Any other rounds i should be looking at for ranges from 300-800?

800m is asking a lot from a .223, but that doesn't mean some rounds are better than others. I'd definitely be looking at 77SMK or 77TMK loadings, like Black Hills or FGMM. You could even single feed 80gr's.

Accurate but slow.  24xx out of my 16" barrel.  Don't see the point when IMI and magtech exists.  Hell you can get black hills mk262 for cheaper than the prime too.

Yeah 800 is just for practicing getting my long range skills and wind calling down. Practically ill never hunt past 300 with it. Just a fun inexpensive round to shoot! I like to accurately plink until i can afford to build a nice 300 win mag or 338 lapua mag.

Currently, Creedmoor Ammo is out of the 77gr SMK and TMK ( my profile photo is 20rds of the Creedmoor 77gr SMK, rapid fire, 100yds ) ... but they do have the 69gr TMK.

That ammo has more speed, and the ballistics of a 77gr SMK bullet.

It might be worth checking out. https://www.creedmoorsports.com/product/2587/-Rifle-Ammunition

Also... don't forget to try some of the less expensive heavy weights. I have had good success with the Hornady 75gr Steel Match.. 574yd hits on a man sized steel plate were surprisingly easy.
Even with a strong cross wind.

I have bought the Steel Match 75gr for as little as $19/ 50rds... very cost effective training round.

Hornady Steel Match 75gr ... 574yds, scoped, bagged, decent portable bench, 20" Krieger

I forgot hornady 75gr. They seem to be a little pickier as to which rifles they like, as compared to SMK's. Neither of my current precision ar's really care for Hornady steel match 75's. I had a PRI Mk.12 that could shoot it like a laser beam though. It's definitely worth a try, your rifle may love them or it may hate them, but for .40cpr they're too good of an opportunity not to check out.

I wish I hadn't sold my old Mk.12 just for how good it shot the Hornady Steel Match 75's lol

I met the CEO at a precision course at Rifles Only back in Feb and this was the first time I had heard of Prime ammo.

He was a really nice guy.  He said the brass is Norma brass stamp with prime on it and the ammo is made by the Swedish gov't.

He was shooting 6.5 creedmoor as well as one of their sponsored shooters.  They brought a lot of ammo and most of us tried some.

It shot just as good as the FGGM that I had - in 308.  It is priced higher, FGGM was $20 per box of 20 and free shipping from palmetto and prime is close to $28-29 per 20.

I'm not sure if it's worth the big difference in price, but I'm all about a small company coming into the game and trying to hold their own.

I do know that if you order from them, the CEO - Jim, tries to give every order a call and thank them and ask for input.

Also Larue is shipping Prime 260 ammo out with their 260 Tobrs

That's pretty cool, hopefully they can be more price competitive. Options are always a good thing.

I shoot a ton of Prime Ammo, 308, 6.5 Creed, 77gr, 300BLK and their 9mm.  Their price point is a little higher than some, and lower than some depending on caliber, I can tell you the QC of their ammo seems very high.  I am getting single digit SD's from their 308, 6.5 and 77gr. I would keep an eye of for sales (the run them often on FB and IG) and buy some to try out.  Their 6.5 out of my bolt gun is avg right at a 9 SD and I shot a .37" 5 round group ctc.

My Son's of Liberty Gun Works 18" match just arrived today, I will hopefully be able to get it chrono'd and report back.  I will shoot some groups at 100 and 200 as well.

I was finally able to chrono the Prime 77gr Match plus out of my 18" SOLGW Match barrel and I was going to wait until I shot groups to post but the weather isn't cooperating.  We are expecting 2-6" of snow tomm into Sunday with winds 30-40 and gusts of 50.  I shot 10 rounds, the first 10 out of the rifle over my Magnettospeed v3 and got 2489 fps avg with and SD of 14 ish off the top of my head.  I will post some pictures once I get them hosted.  I will say I had hoped for faster speeds but I am pleased with the SD for sure and as long as it stays consistent like that they will be great.  I am also hopefully that I will see a little speed increase once the barrel is broke in some.
