On my DPMS LR308 I ejected a live round to unload the gun and noticed a light "strike "on the primer. Is this normal? Is it safe to load trhis round back in the magazine and shoot it? I tried it again with another round and got the same result. A light strike on the primer.

I have limited experience, but I believe it is normal.  The bolt has a ff pin. The firing pin mine does that too. It scared me at first but I don't think its anything to worry about.

Normal because like the one poster said the firing pin is free float.  Supposedly the military ammo has a harder primer cup, or other manufacturing techniques, that make it less prone to slam fires.
CCI and others sell primers specifically for semi automatic rifles.
