Had Noveske NSR rail professionally installed. When I attempted to put a Magpul front sight on the top rail, it wouldn't slide on. I finally tapped it into place with a HAMMER. That concerned me but I figured that possibly the Magpul was too tight. Then I tried to slide a Troy sight onto the rail. No go. I took a Troy rear sight apart and put it on the rail and it tightened to the point only where there is an unsightly gap. At this point, I'm thinking the sight has to be off center. Next, out came the calipers. The Noveske top rail is significantly wider by scale than my Colt and Daniel Defense rails.
Anyone else had this experience. It is unusable as is. Regards! |

If the rail measures too wide, it much be machined a little off.
I would contact Noveske and see what They can do for You. Since it is not a complete upper from Them, I would bet You are going to pay to remove the rail and replace it with another one which sucks. |

Yeah, but Noveske may step up and allow him to ship his entire upper over to them. They may do the swap for him in house. OP, I'd definitely reach out to Noveske regardless. The rail shouldn't be wider than any other standard picatinny rail. |

]All of the newer Troy sights have that gap. it's "supposed" to be there, according to them.
I don't have a newer Troy sight. My rail is wider than any other rail I have in the house per my calipers and the inability to get any accessory on it. If you saw the gap in the "older" Troy sight on this rail, you wouldn't like it. Barely enough metal to get the screw into place. |

Email Noveske take off the (6) NSR screws with the supplied wrench send them the rail swap it out for more useable one re-install on your barrel nut....nothing to it. (may have to apply heat to soften the locktite) |

The Troy sight is shit. My magpul sight was tough to get on my noveske rail also. I had the EXACT same experience. Once I ditched the Troy everything was fine. |

Thanks for all the replies. Maybe it is a Troy problem. However, the Noveske rail that is mounted on the side of the assembly, for the light, etc. is significantly narrower when measured with calipers. The Troy and Magpul stuff slides right on that one. I'm assuming both are made by Noveske. I'm going to try and put a friend's Yankee Hill front sight on the rail tonite. I will report back.
The NSR is mounted on a Colt upper. The rail on the Colt is significantly narrower than the Noveske when measured with calipers. You can actually see the difference when eyeballing it. |
