So I went out to the range today, first time shooting my AR15 in non-ban form. Well to be honest I have had it for 4 years and for about a year I have had it with me in WA but jut never got around to shooting it. But I tried to zero my TA31F and started to notice some problems. I was using some Wolf 55 gr. ammo and fired off about 2 mags in quick succession to test my AR with the ammo to make sure it would function. I then settled down to zero and fired the first 3 round group. Well it was close so I figured some quick adjustments would get me in the black. So I tried to make the adjustments, I heard the click from the ACOG and thats were I started to notice problems. I figured that I had to go up 10 clicks, when I got to around 6 or 7 it began to get hard to turn (was using a dime) so I immediately stopped in fear of stripping out the adjustment. So tried again and fired it moved very little. I tried the same for windage and it too was hard to turn and seemed like it was not making adjustments easily. So I fired a 3 shot group and the POI shifted on me, tried again and it did it again. So I figure maybe its the ammo and try some M855, well it to was hitting low so I try to make adjustments off that, still hard and didn't want to risk stripping it out, made what little I could and fired again, still hitting low. So now I have a problem. When I returned home I tried again with the adjustments, moved them up and left, down and right, they moved all right with positive resistance and click noise. I am going to try again this weekend with some federal 55 gr. ammunition and hope for the best. What could be wrong and is a call to Trijicon in order for how to send it back for repairs? *UPDATE* Well it seems that it was the ammo or another issue. Today I used my borelight kit from my squad and checked the adjustments. Well it adjusted fine and did not have any problems. So I guess it's back to the store to purchase some better ammo and back to the range. Hopefully it works out. |
