Hi, got the Colt part kit, had my smith park barrel, and install...NODAK lower, it looks great....with Silver Bear 55 grain ammunition, shoots very tight groups, no complaints there, but I have adjusted the rear sight all the way to the left and the POI/POA still is off by two inches....what now? Gun looks great, but would like to get it zero'ed....any advice?  Thanks!

Either your barrel is over torqued and the indexing pin is crooked in the notch, or your sight base is canted.

Agreed. It's unlikely, though that the index pin is in the wrong spot. There's usually no or very little play in that notch. Most likely your front sight base is canted.

The barrel was likely overtorqued when installed, not uncommon regrettably.  You can usually whack the FSB to the right with a rawhide or hard polymer mallet to correct this.

I'd much rather loosen the barrel nut and re-torque instead of hitting the FSB.

guys, thanks....given I don't know how to loosen the nut and retorque, and i sort of want to avoid trip to smith...i put barrel in vice, then um, er ah....well tap the front sight base to the right to help bring POA/POI to the left, right?  Thanks!

My Bushmaster Superlight 16" barrel also required excessive left windage to zero at 50 yards.  I tried the barrel on two different receivers but the result was still the same.  I called Bushmaster about my problem and they are sending me a return shipping label so they can troubleshoot it for me.  My opinion is that the FSB is canted slightly and I want it repaired properly.

If your gunsmith pinned your front sight base then he needs to fix the issue.Removing the barrel nut and reinstalling is easier than putting a stripped lower together.

Below is an army technical manual that should help you out. Also go to the build it yourself forum and read the stickies.

If the rear sight is adjusted all the way to the left, the barrel is not over torqued. Most likely the FSB is canted to the right. When you over torque the barrel the FSB goes to the left.
