I have a pistol upper with a DD Lite 7.0 rail on it. When looking down the rail, I can seen the rail begins to turn to the right, near the end of the rail. I loosened the 6 mounting screws and tried to re-align it and it did not fix it. The brake is not centered in the end of the rail, it's to the right and down. The upper is a Rock River A3 upper, Rock River barrel, Troy Low gas block, KK3 piggy brake and a DD 7.0 lir rail. I got this off of the EE from member. He says he only test fired it. Any ideals as what could be the problem? It is it the rail or back plate the rail mounts to? The barrel nut? I have not yet took it apart, because I need a strap wrench to get the brake off. I really want to try to fix it and keep it, so any ideals would be greatly appreicated. |

Mark LaRue is going to be all over this thread like stink on shit. Some receivers are crooked enough that a straight rail will appear to sit crooked. Also, some Daniel Defense handguards are not perfectly straight. It's usually not visible without a straight edge laid against the rail. Sounds like you may have got a bad one... Contact Jay at Daniel Defense about this and I suspect that they will get you fixed up right if the rail is at fault. |

Thanks for the replies..one thing I forgot to put in my original post- The rear locking plate, the one behind the barrel nut, is loose. I can move it around. Is that normal or should it be tight, against the receiver? It almost seems like the barrel nut was not fully seated against the rear plate. I suppose I will have to get ahold of Daniel Defense. |
Ah, that's a VERY important piece of information. The rear locking plate should NOT be loose. It should also NOT be tight against the receiver either though. It SHOULD be tight against the barrel nut, being pulled forward by the 6 screws. |
I had a feeling that was going to be an answer. I think that the barrel nut is not fully tightened. I can rock the back plate forward and backward and side to side. I'm going to tear it down and inspect everything and then re-build it. |
No, that I don't...looks like this upper is going to cost me more money.. |

You might try contacting Daniel Defense and asking them to properly re-install the rail. Even if it costs you a little, it may end up being less expensive than acquiring the correct tools. That is, unless you want a reason to get the correct tools. Then buy happily! |
