I bought this cheap red dot scope and wanted to play around with it.  I shot my AR with this scope mounted on my flatop.  Everything was fine, but when I shot my rifle the red dot would turn off and come back on 3 shots later.  Is this scope worth keeping?

Replace the 2 coin batteries with a single 1/3N cell. If that doesn't fix it, throw it away and buy another. At $60 it's not worth screwing around with a whole lot. BSW

Where did you purchase this scope?  I am looking to buy an Aimpiont knockoff and I have heard good thing about the ones from 1337 tactical here on EE.  Also seen some on ebay that accually have aimpoint written on them. Just wonder how they are. Thanks for any input.

I have one of the 1337tactical Fakepoints. It lives on my Ruger PC9 play-toy. My rifle has ML3 Aimpoint, because that is a real gun intended for real use.

For a fun toy, I don't have a problem with the Fakepoint. I would run with the BUIS before I put one on a firearm intended for social work. BSW

Very simple fix, all battery operated device have the same inherent problem. Obviously if you buy quality stuff it is less prevalent.

Take the battery out, you will see a spring contact on one side of the battery compartment, hook a paperclip or whatever onto it and pull on it slightly. What your doing is lengthening this spring and making the fit of the battery tighter which should fix the problem you have. If that doesn't fix it than you have a loose connection somewhere in the circuit and it's time to return the product.

Did you get it from 1337 tactical on ebay or one of the dealers from hong kong.  The ones from hong kong have aimpoint written on them.  Just checking because i am considering getting one. Thanks.
