I was putting a friends new gun that he bought from M&A together tonight and ran into a problem that I have not had before.  When I finished it and attached the upper to the lower, I tried to pull back on the charging handle.  It move maybe a quarter inch or so and stops dead in its tracks.  I have fought with this thing for over an hour and it has done no good.  I put the upper on another lower, it works fine.  I pulled a carrier out of one of my other ones and it locks up also.  At first, I thought maybe the spring stop was out of spec so I filed it down just a little, no help.  So I grabbed a new one out of the box.  This thing has a M4 style stock on it and is being attached to a DPMS lower.  It this a problem with the stock?  If the upper is off the lower, I can fit the carrier in the stock tube but when the gun is together, its a no go.  I lost right now so if any of you have any ideas that I can try tomorrow, let me hear them.  I have another M4 that I can try on there and see if it works, that would definetely let me know if it was a stock problem.  Thanks for any help or insight.  GS

****Ok, ran out real fast and switched the supplied M4 stock with the M4 stock off of my RRA 9mm carbine.  Used the supplied spring and buffer but my stock and tube.  Works like a charm.  So I guess I need to call M&A on Monday and get a new one sent out to us.  Sort of pisses me off that I wasted an hour thinking I had done something wrong and taking it apart 30 times.  I guess I will let him use mine for a few days.  Am I right in assuming that a new one will fix our problem by it working with my stock?******Thanks again.  GS

Check the threads on the Buffer tube, they may not be straight.  Also check the threads on the lower, if the threads on the tube are out of spec they may have damaged the lower rec. threads.  It never hurts to double check.  I would also check the inside of the tube for diameter as well as trueness.  Then, I'd call the supplier and have it replaced ( and make sure they pay for the shipping BOTH ways ).

Probably just the stocks lock plate is to high at the top and is catching the charging handle at the bottom. I had one that I had to file a flat spot on top the plate where it was round so the handle would pass by the top edge of the plate.

Guys, it was the lock plate.  Thank you very much.  Why is it that you always miss the obvious and automatically start tearing away at the internals?  Now I can put my gun back together.  The threads look good but I had to take a nice little amount off the plate.  Just locked it up in the vise and grabbed the file.  Looks great after a little blackening and works like a charm.  Thanks again guys.
