Both of them are brand new NiB "match grade" BCGs.
I noticed upon my initial inspect that one has two dents, at least on the surface, on the gas key. The other does not and I cannot really verify (using a flashlight) if it's dented at all into the tube. Any ideas if this is an issue an should be returned or is it just a cosmetic blemish? Thanks for any insight. |

As long as the nicks to the gas key are cosmetic, I do not see a reason to return the bcg. A gas key tool can be made by taking a 1/4 (.250") inch pin punch, and having it turned down to a diameter of 0.175".
Figure E-4 of Appendix E in TM 05538C-23&P/2 shows the dimensions of the key tool. |

I took an extra gas tube that I had and inserted it into the gas key without the dents and it seated fairly far (I marked the depth on the tube with a marker). With that mark on there I inserted the same tube into the dented gas key and it didn't go in nearly as far. I'm returning that BCG for a new one. |
