Where can I send a upper receiver and barrel to get the opening of the receiver honed out some... the barrel extension will not fit... it's too tight. Barrel fits other recievers... this one (upper opening) is just on the SUPER TIGHT small side of the specs.
Not sure of the make, has the square forge mark. I've tried everything but "pounding" on it... which I don't want to do for obvious reasons. Got the upper NIW off the EE a couple weeks ago so it's not the sellers fault. So... who can SLIGHTLY open up the receiver for me? Or should I just get a brake cyl hone and go to work on it myself? ETA: Used my scope lapping kit with the 1" bar and some compound to hone out the opening... all is fine. Thanks for the replies. |

You can try doing it yourself or you can send it off to ADCO. It could just be that the anodizing is extra thick and needs to be honed down. I would try to work it myself first, if that doesn't work then it might be out of spec and may need to be machined to the proper spec. |
Thanks for the replies... never experienced this type issue, my first thought was ADCO. The barrel nut screws on just fine and the BCG slides in/out just fine... only issue is the ever so slightly undersize opening... .
I'm not concerned about the finish, I can hit it with some aluma-hyde afterwards... |

At first, when I placed the barrel extension at the opening, it wouldn't go in at all. After some grease and some force (hitting and tapping with wood) it went in about 1/8" maybe a little more then stops cold. The anodizing is now wore off at the opening...
I pounded on it more than I liked so I just stopped.... it is NOT gonna go as it sits. Damn near could not get the barrel out so I figured I better quit while I was ahead...

You might want to check that the socket isn't out-of-round. Even if it is slightly, the nut will go on, but the extension will bind. Look for uneven abrasive marks inside the socket from where you previously attempted to install it. |

I've had this happen before building 10/22s
Barrel goes in the freezer. Upper in 175 deg oven. Slides right on, and once the temps normalize you have a pretty nice interference fit. I wonder if its bad enough the upper could crack though once the temp comes down. |
