[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Problems chambering first round

My gun doesn't seem to like chambering the first round. The BCG doesn't lock all the way forward. After the first round it is fine.

What can I check?

how many rounds do you have in the mag?

if the mag is full (20 or 30 rounds) remove a couple and see if the problem goes away.

Also how are you loading it? Are you riding the CH or lettng it slam home?

IMO Coop and Redbone are right on the money.

Mags: Properly loaded, the top round should be on the right. (30 rd mag, fully loaded). You may try downloading your USGI mags to 28 rds.

Charging the rifle: Don't ride the charging handle, pull back and release.
