Hi Everyone,

Newb builder here and seeking feedback on the selected components.  I am looking at building a medium/higher end rifle for target shooting at medium ranges as my one any only rifle.  So I am willing to spend more to get it everything right on the first round.  I selected the base of my build as being the Mega Arms Billet M-Lok Upper and the corresponding billet lower.  These are already purchased and on hand, so from here on out I am all on board with the Mega build.  The CMC Trigger is also already purchased.  Your thoughts and experience on these matters would be appreciated especially with regards to the BCG or any other deficiencies in the equipment setup.  I know there are a million options and setups but if you see any glaring issues please let me know.  BTW your website rocks, I have learned so much from the forums here.  Thanks!

As long as you are going all out get a VLTOR A5 buffer kit and be done with it.

Lot's of nice parts in your build.

I would look at the govnah gas block.  I like that you can drill the ports to the sizes you want.  I'm not super familiar with the JP adjustable gas block, does it have click style adjustments?  At a minimum I would want a locking system on the adjustment screw for any gas block I would consider.

I prefer the Raptor to the BCM gunfighter, but the gunfighter is better at gas busting if your going to put a can on it.

The JP silent capture kit is expensive.  I haven't used it, I've always had good success with H buffers and standard springs.

I really like the Spikes buffer tube, they are my favorite, though I wish they hadn't bumped the price to $39 from $29.  The A5 receiver extensions are only about $45 if you decided to go that route.  The ACS line of stocks are rather long, I believe they have more room for the buffer tube to collapse so they would be a good fit for an A5 length tube.  Remember if you do swap the tube to an A5 you will need the A5 buffer and a standard rifle spring.

Thanks for the information, I will definitely look up the gas block and buffer setup you mentioned.  Because you asked, the JP adjustable gas block does has a brass set screw that you can tighten to fix the position of the gas adjustment screw when you get the rifle tuned in.  Just wanted to let you know.

It's good to hear it has a lock on the adjustment screw.  In my experience I had to open the gas block quite a bit to get the rifle to lock back on Wolff or Tulammo.  Having multiple settings you can flip to is nice because you can have a tune for 5.56 pressure ammunition and a second for low/under pressure ammunition.

The only thing you could probably save some $$ on would be the muzzle device.

Do a search for muzzle device comparison.  This link below is a guy who was really critical of many of the more expensive ones; he hasn't gotten to the Griffen's yet.  Basically it's amazing what the standard birdcage can do.

Even if you went with it, you'd still have a great rifle in the end.

I would suspect that most here will say, "Build it and post pictures."
