I seem to recall seeing a quick detach point that could be fixed to the frame of the front sight base.

I think it was circular, but I can't for the life of me find it.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

GG & G makes one for the front sight like you want.  They make good stuff.  I use one from them that is similar to this, but more like a standard side-mount sling ring.

Anyway, here is a link showing the type you want:

Awesome, thanks man I think that'll do the trick.

I swear I remember seeing one really similar to that but it was like two circles that clamped together in the FSB.

EDIT: Also, that will work with the magpul MS4, right?

Yes, the sockets are universal to the QD swivels.  Magpul also states that in their Spec's.

I went with a cheap ebay version of the GG&G and have no issues with it (although it WILL mar the finish of the FSB, just a heads up). They are aluminum (not steel) and were super cheap (something like $15 if I recall correctly). I opted just to use the standard front sling swivel (I don't use QD anymore), so I can't comment on long term durability of them. Now I just sling them straight to the standard front loop and slot in the stock (less attachments to possibly fail).

Delete.  Magpul paraclip I suggested will not attach to FSB frame.
