Right now I am using an ARMS 22 ring w/ the 1" insert. It is OK, but on my YHM forearm the lock up is not as tight I would like. So I am asking what else is there? I have seen the DD ring ADCO sells and that looks good, but it is not a throw lever; and I use the quick detach quite frequently. Any opinions would be appreciated. I wish LaRue made individual rings like the ARMS. TIA |
laruetactical.com/lt/productImages/2pc.jpg They are 30mm, but if you really want LaRue rings for a light you can get a set of LT reducers for another $29. So not counting shipping you'd be looking at ~$110 for a throwlever LaRue ring per light... If you're that dedicated you could go the short M68CCO mount route as well and have an extra reducer left over for about $120. I decided it was worth my while to troll the EE for an M961 vs building and analogue, but I also had an OT check to burn... I'd still like to get the LaRue mount for my M961, but it's not a pressing need like ammo and gas money. LaRue Link eta - I see you're already using a reducer. I'd think about the short M68 mount option, depending whether you need the drop offset or not. You'd also have to guesstimate the lateral offset as well. Would still be the most bomber setup going... (And you can generally sell off your ARMS stuff on the EE) |

Those rings look a little too high, thanks for the link though. The light in the second pic, can you get just that mount? That would be cool, but I am thinking not for right now. I spoke with Grant @ G&R and he said LT has only made prototypes that were shown at the last shot show and deosn't know when they be availible. I wish the DD was throw lever; I will probably end up getting one anyway. Thanks |

I feel your pain on the light situation. It has taken me quite a while to convince myself to go big... It helped precipitate the issue when I got involved with a night shoot in two weeks, not wanting to waste my training investment with haphazard gear. I'll give you credit for pushing me over the edge and ordering an LT M951 mount early this am so I can get away from the thumbscrews. The DD mount is solid and will get the job done, just keep a stubby slotted driver around to torque up the screw. |

Er? The M951 mount from LaRue replaces the thumbscrew / ARMS lever mounts on the Surefire M series weaponlights that have the built in rail mounts. Look on LaRue's site, I think it might be the low (RAS II) M2 mount, but with the widget that bolts to the weaponlight. Still not a 1" ring though. The Daniel Defense mount you can buy already, but I'm thinking you know that. |
LaRue is also supposed to be working on a one inch ring mount for lights. In the meantime, Daniel Defense makes a nice one. It offsets the light at a slight angle to help you reach it when using a VFG. The LaRue if and when it comes out will be a throw lever. ![]() Link to the DD mount at Eagle |

Never thought about the TDI mount. I emailed BF with my concern and he made no mention of that mount. Forest, what type of HG do you use most (looks to be LT in tha pic)? I just fear that any type of single point contact system (like the ARMS) will not be too soild on the YHM tube I am running...because I know the rails are a wee out of spec. My TD fits and other stuff, but for some reason the ARMS just doesn't like it. Just to illustrate the greatness of BF's customer service, when I first mentioned my problem, he immediately sent me a new ring. However, that did not solve the issue. Right now I am thinking to over kill it and get another ARMS and run two on the light with the idea that the two would cancel out the minute pitch fluctuations I am expereincing...I just don't know yet. |
Rob, there's a small amount of play fore and aft with the TDI when attached because the crossbar appears to Universal specs, I'm afraid you won't like that. That's the only issue with the TDI, it certainly does a great job securing the light and it is a q.d. mount. |
Lately I have been wondering... it seems like this plan has dropped off the face of the earth, I have heard zero about it since initial introduction. |

I'm a bit curious about this one NickDrak is running... ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=118&t=239959 Proto maybe? |
Hehe, it's a custom Classic I built for him. It's a 6v Classic w/ A12 9v conversion added using the XM tailcap mounted in the LaRue offset. |
